    Are free services truly free?


    This project is about helping students and adults to understand the question ”Are free services truly free?”. In reality, free services are not truly free and those companies might be selling your personal information. In order to help people understand this, I will research free VPN (a virtual private network). I will collect data and create a video as an online visual representation for our resource usages.


    Phase 1: - Learning the Tool: These tools will be essential when collecting and presenting data to the community.


    Milestone 1: YouTube

    • Learn how to present a good video

    Milestone 2: Adobe Premiere Pro

    • Learned how to use Video Editing application

    Milestone 3: Excel or spreadsheet software

    • Learn how to make bar graphs and other graphs

    Milestone 4: Adobe Photoshop

    • Learned how to create a title page and draw some characters for a video

    Milestone 5: Adobe After Effects

    • Learn how to create video effects


    Phase 2: - Compiling data into a coherent narrative: I will be using web sources to research valuable information for viewers to create a visualization.

    Milestone 1: Research positive points and negative points of free services.

    • I’ve researched that many people have been stolen their personal information by using free VPN.

    Milestone 2: Research what kind of information are being stolen

    • I need to research how the personal information is used

    • I need to find out what would happen after the information has been used by third parties


    Milestone 3: Research negative impact for free service users

    • Find out the possible outcomes by using free VPN


    Phase 3: Compile/create some visuals : I will include some graphs to show which VPN companies are more likely to steal customers’ information. Also include a graph of how many people’s information are being sold. The visual for my project would be a video form. To create the video, I will be following these steps.

    • Learn some editing techniques

    • Learn how to use background music

    • Put my own narration

    Phase 4: Organize information and visuals on a platform for presentation :I will organize the information and create a short video.

    Milestone 1 : Create a fun to watch image video

    • Make a storyboard

    Milestone 2 : Edit a video using Premiere Pro and After Effects

    Milestone 3:Record my narration

    Milestone 4 : Find a background music

    • Edit a whole video
