Week 25

This week productivity has been very good. I feel like I have gotten a lot done too. I have been overwhelmed with capstone. Soon approaching I have focused most of my time on this. I am a little stressed out juggling all of my classes. As the school year winds down I am excited just for the completion of everything.
This next week I plan to have a meeting with Dr. Bill on deploying the Netatmo's or just using a sample space such as the E Lab.

The unit above was out dated from the previous use of this machine. I began the process of updating the module, and sorting our devices numbering them nomad 1, nomad 2, nomad 3 etc....

I got about a little less then halfway through this process. Next class should be the finalizing of this stage and ready for deployment.

Day 52

Today I was assigned to finish the netatmos. I started with the extender's, these devices connect to the indoor module. They act as worker bees sending their data back to the central hub.
Download file "IMG_5264.JPG"
I started by replacing all of the batteries in these devices. Then attempting to connect them to the hub.
Download file "IMG_5265.JPG"
I found that using the app is the easiest way to navigate these devices. I downloaded the app on my personal IPAD and attempted to connect them.

I ran into trouble along the way and hit a road block. The software on the old devices was out of date so I had to re update them again.

Week 23

This week was unfortunately a short week. I still managed to get quite a lot done. I am excited for the weeks to follow and where they will take me. I would like to keep exploring guitar fuzz pedals and other radio devices. We will see what I can do.
I would also like to learn more about radio astronomy. I think this is a very cool subject in HAM radio.

I also can't wait to keep up with the other groups, seeing what they will be up to.

Day 51

Today we had all classes so our tie was cut short. I got to work on learning RC Circuit's and have started preparing for the construction of a guitar fuzz pedal. I think soldering is a very useful skill and would like to get started. I found a youtube channel Step by Step science witch is extremely useful for this process.

I am hoping to complete this project, and another by the end of the year we will see what time permits.

Day 50

Today we learned about solar weather. As well as sun cycles. This is incredible relevant, because I have just gotten my HAM license. Download file "IMG_5234.JPG"Download file "IMG_5233.JPG"

I would like to help Will, and explore radio's in space. I though this is extremely interesting!

Day 49

Today I took my HAM Radio Exam. This was an amazing experience.
Download file "IMG_5231.JPG"
I had to be in a silent room, have my ID ready, then scan my room. I then had to use a second camera to observe me. This was such a weird experience. I was proctored by three VE's. I then took my exam and passed.

I am super excited to get on the band plan. I am also excited to use my new found skills to work. I would like to help set antennas to weather stations relaying data back the ELAB hub. I would also like to explore radio astronomy. Within my Access.

I am excited to get back to the ELAB and get to work!

Week 22

This week has been rough, I think I have adjusted my trajectory, and am back on track to success. I have signed up for my radio License Sunday. I then plan to help Nate and Caden with their projects of setting up portable weather stations. I still would like to take advantage of the ELAB until I have to leave. I would like to possibly make a guitar fuzz pedal or more electrical fabrication. I might also go another route, I would like to pick up the intensity, working more outside of class as well. Everything being chaotic as I wrap up senior year, I would like to use the ELAB until I can't.

Day 48

Today In ISR I studied for my HAM radio license. I plan on taking my test this Sunday at 2:15 PM HST. This has been long awaited. I am taking my HAM test online via zoom. Five proctors through PARC Testing.Download file "IMG_5230.PNG"

I chose my district as eight. Eight is the district of Michigan even though I will be oporating in district six. I thought it would be safer to allow the ARRL to have my home address instead of HPA.

Download file "ARRL US Call District Map.jpg"

I can always include /W6 at the end of my call sign to inform whom I am speaking to.

This is the phonetic alphabet, Ham's use this instead of singular letters. Thus, it is easier to hear and communicate.
