10/16/21 Weekly Weblog
This week I mostly on creating my capstone website. I am done with it now and will add more as time goes along. Next week I will mostly be working on the formal project proposal. I also want to talk with Andy about the EEG Website idea. I am also going to reach out the QNHCH and the Waimea Hospice once I officially test my headset.
10/7/21: Project Pitch (to other class)
Feedback:
The main thing I need to focus on is stating how my project will help my target group. They also think that it would be helpful to add more about how it is a research project and not an "end" goal thing and more about how I my work would be helping my target group and specially my action. They also gave some good feedback on connecting the dots between the research and what I am doing more, just laying out my project more simply and explaining what an EEG is and how being relaxed/comfortable can be shown on the EEG/how I can use the EEG to see this!

10/9/21
In the week ahead I hope to create my website that uses my previous data to analyze brain waves! I also set up the new EPOC X Headset for others to use and I am so happy to see other people interested in and wanting to do projects with the tec.! If they need any help, as always I am here, and I am exited to see what projects they create!! I am also a little bit nervous about our Formal Project Proposal on Friday because we haven't talked about it, but hopefully it will go well! *Update the date for this got moved*

I liked hearing other projects besides my Capstone Groups! I think that everyone's presentations are improving so much with practice & feedback!!

ProjectPitch: 9/29/21
Today was my Birthday!! Our class had some fanatic pitch's everyone had chosen such cool problems and had fanatic ways of hooking the audience in & explaining what they are going to do, but what topped it off was Dr. Bill bring in food! Thank you so much!
Take aways from my pitch:
- I need to add in a def of Aphasia
- Take out my "help from audience" slide as it does not fit with my project
It was great to practice with out Capstone group as I feel very comfortable with them and we all sorta know what we are all doing so we could really specify our feedback because of our background knowledge
9/16/21 Headset Arrived!!
WHOOO-YAYAYYAAYYA!! So excited, it arrived so quickly! I am going to set it up and try it out this weekend. We also need some supplies to actually do a test including the electrode gel (which we definitely don't have at home)! And we also need isopropyl alcohol, cotton buds, abrasive gel (which is much harder to get, although it is technically optional, it improves the connection by a lot), and a syringe with a blunt needle. Excited to see how amazing this headset is :).

We ordered our headsets today! They should be here in 6-8ish weeks!! I have decided to change to capstone idea to using the headsets on people in the community, either at the Waimea Hospice or at the elderly care center in town. Either using the headset to look at relaxation and stress levels to see when patients are the most comfortable and happy to create a better care plan or to look at memory in the elderly patients to see the effects of playing music or talking about their lives has on their brain waves.

Wow, I cannot believe it is already September. We got a discount on the headsets, 10% off! This is good news although I wish it was more. Also, Dr. Bill is amazing and found someone to donate and buy the headsets for us!! Yay :)). We are going to order them next class but I am so excited. I am struggling with narrowing down my project and I want to incorporate some of the amazing new headset technology into my project.
Capstone Week Recap: 8/28/21
This week we talked more about the problems we are going to target. I am working on focusing on waste weather creating a better trash bin at HPA or collection service in town. I also have ideas about collecting waste in the ocean. Last week I helped Lily log into Emotiv and explained the basics of the headsets! I also emailed Emotiv about getting a discount on their Epoc Flex Headset.
Capstone 8/30/21
Today we talked to Mr. Schorn about what makes a good capstone. It was valuable to hear his opinion and a basic rundown of how the capstone process works. After talking to Mr. Schorn we meet as a group to talk about our ideas.
Capstone 26/8/21:
Last class, I helped Lily log into the Emotiv software so she can learn more about the EEG Headset! I also drafted an email asking Emotiv for a discount on software so that we can do better experiments!
Capstone: 25/8/21
3rd capstone class! We talked more about our ideas. I am still not sure what I focus on, whether my project being around waste at our school or community or an ocean robot thingy perhaps. My issue would be waste and how as we live in an island to costs so much to transport off. And my other issue would again be waste but instead focus on the collection of it from the ocean.
Capstone: 24/8/21
Second capstone class. We all talked about our ideas. Mine are very basic but I do have a target audience, my schools community or the greater Waimea community and their trash. My classmates recommend speaking to Mr. Quayle and Mr. McKenna which are both very good ideas because they know a lot about this field. Excited to see what my project morphs into! :)
Weekly Summary 5/8/21
I was finished all my tests! I still need to analyze them a little more and compare them all, I am going to do that next weekend after my AP's and Finals. Thank you to everyone who participated in the tests and I am exited to analyze my work.

Thank you Dr. Bill for being a test subject (victim)! I did all parts of the test with Dr. Bill (reading, math, motor functions, and meditation). At the end of his mediation, I saw the waves increase from Low Beta to High Beta, we talked about it after words and it is because he was not sure how much time was left for the Meditation so he was distracted from meditating.

Today I finished testing Pierce, we had to redo one of his tests to make it more accurate because the sensor did not have a good connection (showed only 30-50% connected not 80 to 100% which means that the results were much more inaccurate. I hopefully can test Dr. Bill (if he lets me and isn't to busy) on Friday
